Maiden and the Dragon with Momotaro

So I misread the assignment of the Many Voices Group Show. Here it is:
Think about cultural and historical narrative, language, religion, spirituality, cultural celebrations and traditions, stories, ethnic origins, mythology, folklore and anything else you can think of. You can create something based on your own culture or another. You are free to interpret this theme in any way that seems appropriate. You may submit artwork that you already have or create something new for the show.

I thought it was a fantasy creature mixed with ethnicity of your choice. Not the case, so I thought to incorporate my own - The Maiden and Dragon with Momotaro - both stories from my play "Japan 1946 Meets California 2010" from my production "Waking from the Dream" which just closed last Wednesday. So here's a first pass of what I came up with:

Ethnic Fantasy Creatures

Yin yang... with all the Japanese influences around me lately, I thought to create this for the Many Voices Art Show next weekend!

A Japanified Mermaid and Unicorn Encounter... to look like the Japanese flag.

Animation professionals have donated a lot of great pieces to raise funds for the Japan Relief!

Mine is "Kokeshi Peaches at Sunrise." It's an 8x8 hand signed print I made in Illustrator. Please come and show your support! :)
